FLAT RATE GTA Service

In the past few weeks, we have been able to make dozens of deliveries to homebrewers in Durham, Scarborough and a few spots around the GTA. With the help of an old friend who finds himself at home these days, we are now able to offer a flat rate home-delivery option to most of the GTA.

When does it start?

As it happens, we had already planned to close on Friday April 10 through until Monday April 13, back to the shop on the 14th. We will begin deliveries on Tuesday April 14th.

When are deliveries being made?

Monday through Friday, mostly during the day. This will allow us to continue offering FREE local deliveries in the evenings. Most GTA deliveries will be made by 3:00 - 3:30pm. We cannot guarantee which day of the week or time of day we will deliver, since the ONLY way to make this work is to stage orders so that the route covers as many deliveries as possible. This might mean your order does not go out for 1-2 days. As we get closer to the weekend, orders will pass over into the next week, so order as early in the week as you can.

What is the charge?

We are charging $11.00 flat, plus HST. $10.00 of this fee goes directly to the driver and $1.00 goes to gas. 

Can we deliver liquid yeast?

Yes. There is a cooler in the car with ice packs. Each order is identified that needs yeast to complete it and as the driver arrives at your address, he will collect the yeast from the cooler and add it to your order. Please collect your order promptly to ensure the yeast is not exposed to prolonged ambient temperatures.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes, $25.00 is the minimum order for this. When you are checking out, if your order is BELOW $25.00 (before tax) the FLAT RATE delivery option will not appear.

Unfortunately, our cart system is not intelligent enough to qualify this service based on your delivery postal code, so we have to do that manually. We have set the following boundaries for this service so if you are way outside of them and still select this FLAT RATE option, we will contact you to let you know that you may not qualify. Please respect the boundaries.

Boundaries

427 in the west, Steeles Avenue to the north, Markham Road to the east (we cover east of Markham Road in our free service), and south to Lake Ontario.

• If you live in an area with no parking or restricted access please let us know as we will require you to meet us on the street to collect your order. 
• If you live in an apartment or condo, we will only deliver to your lobby entrance. We will do our best to let you know when we are coming so you can meet us. 
• We can only afford to make one delivery attempt. We will advise when we are planning your delivery and if you are unable to be home at that time, please let us know ASAP. If we are unable to deliver, your order will end up back in Pickering for pick up, and the delivery fee is non-refundable. 

Our objective is to offer this as a TEMPORARY measure to support homebrewers across the region. We will be observing a strict NO CONTACT method of delivering, meaning we DO NOT ring your doorbell or knock. The driver will set the order on your doorstep and contact the office. We will then message you to collect it. If you are concerned about porch pirates or animals that might want to investigate your grains, please leave a cooler out and we will place your order (if it fits) into it. 

This has been put together as quickly as we could and there may be issues or logistics we have not considered. If and when they emerge, we will address them. If this service proves to be unpopular or dangerous in any way, we will cease to offer it. If you have questions, please contact us.
